In the beginning of April, the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications held the contest "Recognize business promoter" during which, best business promoters were chosen. The winners were GameFounders and Prototron.
"GameFounders rose to prominence because for Estonia, it is very important to develop export and internationalization. This will help to increase productivity and therefore people's incomes. It is important that in developing our country's reputation we would rely on our internationally recognized skills like ICT," said the chairman of the jury, head of the Ministry's Department of Econominc Development Kaupo Reede.
In the case of Prototron, Reede says, it is important for public and private sector to cooperate and contribute to business together. "It is especially approved, when private sector is leading the way. We need smarter and more clever products and services in Estonia," said Reede.
There were many other projects in the finals of the contest, such as European student firms competition in Estonia (by Junior Achievement Estonia SA), TUT Mektory School of Technology (by Tallinn University of Technology), E-billing system (by Centre of Registers and Information Systems) and the Estonian fashion design showroom/fashion store ZERO (by SA Incubator Tallinn).
Contest "Recognize business promoter" is designed to identify, recognize and promote Estonia's best initiatives in business and to introduce them to public. It is also the Estonian semifinal of the "European Enterprise Promotion Awards 2015", in which the winners will be announced in Luxembourg in November 2015.
Last year the winners of the Estonian contest were a start-up Wise Guys and Narva Logistics and Industrial Park. This time, the competition was held for the ninth year in a row.
The jury included: Kaupo Reede (chairman of the jury, Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications), Mait Palts (Chamber of Commerce and Industry), Tiit Elenurm (Estonian Business School), Hanno Tomberg (Enterprise Estonia), Kaia Sarnet (Ministry of the Interior), Evelyn Sepp (Service Industry Association) and Pirko Konsa (Development Fund).
